On May 4, 2020, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Arizona will be upgrading its CM/ECF system to the Next Generation of CM/ECF, also known as NextGen. NextGen simplifies electronic filing by combining CM/ECF and PACER accounts into a single account; a new functionality called Central Sign-On. The basic functionality of CM/ECF will remain the same (opening cases, filing motions, etc.). Filers will use one login and password to electronically file in any NextGen court where they have permission to file. All federal courts are expected to adopt NextGen within the next few years. In order to prepare for NextGen, all electronic filers (attorneys, trustees, filing agents, etc.) will be required to upgrade their existing PACER accounts if their account was created prior to August 11, 2014. Filers must have their own PACER account. Shared PACER accounts will not work with NextGen. The court strongly recommends that users take these steps as soon as possible to avoid any filing issues after NextGen is implemented on May 4, 2020.
